Eligibility

  • Persons who were trained in Hong Kong must hold a master degree or above in audiology from a recognised tertiary institution, with elements consistent with the Body of Knowledge, which 
    • includes at least 250 supervised clinical hours of audiology practice, or
    • includes an examination on clinical competence of audiology practice.
  • Persons who acquired the professional qualification in a jurisdiction, in which there is an audiology governing body, must:-
    • have obtained the right of audiology practice in that jurisdiction by the governing body and the right of audiology practice should be valid on the day of application submission, and
    •  hold a master degree or above in audiology from a recognised tertiary institution, or a postgraduate diploma in audiology issued on or before 1 July 1997, with elements consistent with the Body of Knowledge.  The master degree or above in audiology, or the postgraduate diploma, should 
      • includes at least 250 supervised clinical hours of audiology practice, or
      • includes an examination on clinical competence of audiology practice.
    • Qualification assessment by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications may be required, at the applicant’s own expense.  Should the applicant fail to produce documentation proof for the clinical hours or an examination on clinical competence of audiology practice, the applicant will have an opportunity to sit for an examination held by the HKIA.  The examination will be held no more than once per year.
  • Persons who acquired the professional qualification in a jurisdiction, in which there is no audiology governing body to grant the right of audiology practice in that jurisdiction, must hold a master degree or above in audiology from a recognised tertiary institution with elements consistent with the Body of Knowledge, which 
    • includes at least 250 supervised clinical hours of audiology practice, and
    • includes an examination on clinical competence of audiology practice.
    • Qualification assessment by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications may be required, at the applicant’s own expense.  Once the professional qualifications have been assessed and accepted by the HKIA, the applicant will be invited to sit for an examination held by the HKIA.  The examination will be held no more than once per year.
